by Sok Chan (Khmer Times) The value of Cambodia’s cassava exports to Thailand is being adversely affected by Thailand’s periodic closing of informal border checkpoints, forcing some farmers to grow alternative cash crops as prices wildly fluctuate, provincial officials told Khmer Times.
Since the current military junta took power in Thailand in 2014, they have attempted to control Cambodia’s export of cassava into the country by closing unofficial checkpoints, in an effort to lower prices of the commodity, explained Pang Vannaseth, deputy director of Banteay Meanchey provincial agricultural department.
